Date: 31/07/2024

Bank of Jordan has signed a memorandum of understanding with ATA’A Palestine Foundation to provide and distribute meals in the Gaza strip. The signing ceremony took place at the Regional Management of Bank of Jordan in Ramallah in the presence of the Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Jordan branches in Palestine ‘Saif Issa’ and the General Manager of ATA’A Palestine Foundation ‘Dr. Raja’a Abu Ghazaleh Shaath’ and management staff from both sides.

Issa clarified that this support is within the framework of the multiple umbrella relief program to support the humanitarian situation in the Gaza strip launched by Bank of Jordan to help citizens in the current difficult humanitarian situation in the strip. This memorandum is the second part of the relief work included in the program and aims to support the provision of hot meals to citizens in the northern Gaza strip who are suffering from acute starvation and a severe shortage of food and supplies.

Issa hailed the efforts of ATA’A Palestine Foundation to help citizens, to include the purchase of the necessary items, the preparation of the meals in kitchens earmarked by the foundation (TAKIYA) and its distribution to beneficiaries estimated at 28000 through the foundation’s staff operating in the northern Gaza strip. The distribution includes harboring schools, tent compounds and health centers. It covers the targeted groups comprising orphans, invalid persons, the old aged and poor Families.

In turn, Dr. Abu Ghazaleh hailed the strategic partnership with Bank of Jordan while stressing that the citizens in the Gaza strip and specifically in the north today urgently need food supplies and face real danger of comprehensive starvation. As such, the foundation is working day and night to provide as many hot meals as possible and food items to families in northern Gaza.

She stressed that this is not the first initiative with Bank of Jordan as it was continuously a pioneer in meeting the urgent humanitarian and development needs through a series of successful previous projects implemented by the foundation with Bank of Jordan, like the establishment of a model library, house refurbishment project, the food parcels project during Ramadan and other projects.

It is noteworthy that ATA’A Palestine is a non-profit private foundation incorporated in 2010 and works to implement charitable and developmental relief projects in the entire Palestinian areas in the West Bank, the Gaza strip and Jerusalem. Bank of Jordan was among the first financial institutions in Palestine since 1994 and participated in providing distinguished banking services in the Palestinian territories. It targeted a large group of Palestinian sectors and participated in supporting and developing the national economy. Furthermore, it delivered a noble message through its social responsibility to develop and empower society and actively participate in the various relief, humanitarian and sustainable development projects.
