In cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Transport, Bank of Palestine and Bank of Jordan signed a joint cooperation agreement to provide Bank of Jordan offices in the Traffic Departments with electronic payment machines to facilitate the payment of the specified fees to the Ministry of Transport and the Traffic Departments via the bank cards and the modern electronic payment systems.
The agreement was signed at the head office of Bank of Palestine in Ramallah in the presence of Mr. Mahmoud Al Shawwa, the General Manager of Bank of Palestine and Mr. Saif Issa, the Regional Manager of Bank of Jordan in Palestine. Also present were several department managers and officers from both sides.
Pursuant to the agreement, Bank of Palestine shall provide the collection offices of Bank of Jordan at the Traffic Departments in addition to the POS subordinate to the Ministry of Transport in all districts of the homeland with electronic payment machines and train Bank of Jordan employees to use them. This is besides the provision of technical support needed during office hours.
In turn, Mr. Mahmoud Al Shawwa stressed that this agreement shall foster the electronic payment culture of new segments of Palestinians and facilities matters through the modern payment services via the plastic banking cards and the other electronic means made available through the machines. The would reduce carrying cash to pay the fees.
In turn also, Mr. Saif Issa clarified that this agreement outlines the keenness of Bank of Jordan to provide modern payment methods to citizens to pay the relevant fees to the Ministry of Transport collected by the bank through its offices in the Traffic Departments. This includes several important services like licensing of cars, the renewal of driving licenses and other fees. He pointed out that this is in line with the strategy of Bank of Jordan aimed at enhancing the culture of using the electronic services and the provision of comprehensive financial solutions via advanced electronic channels.
Both banks stressed that this cooperation within the auspices of the Palestine Monetary Authority shall enhance to a large extent the implementation of the electronic payment strategy in Palestine.
It is noteworthy that the collection offices of Bank of Jordan that are part of the agreement include all collection offices within the Traffic Departments in all districts. This step is part of a series of improvements undertaken by the bank to develop the electronic services and the payment methods to facilitate matters to citizens.
